Description

The CHP Group (CHP) is excited to announce our upcoming continuing education opportunities in the Portland metro area for CHP network chiropractors!

The CHP Group has been working with integrative healthcare (IH) providers and providing IH-targeted continuing education for over 25 years in the Pacific Northwest. This event is free and exclusively for our network providers.

We have created four hours of continuing education specifically to meet the needs of our network chiropractors – including two hours of record-keeping as required by the Oregon Board of Chiropractic Examiners (OBCE) for 2016, as well as two hours of Cultural Competency as recommended by the Oregon Health Authority.

(Though designed to meet 2016 Oregon requirements, these courses are open to our Washington network providers and are applicable to Washington state chiropractic continuing education requirements.)

Record-Keeping for Chiropractors
This two-hour session, taught by CHP’s Corporate Medical Director, Dr. Steven Sebers, has been created to meet the 2016 OBCE requirement for two hours of record-keeping continuing education. It will cover the OBCE's "Record Keeping Check List" as well as other pertinent information for today's chiropractors.

Cultural Competency
What is “Cultural Competency”? How do providers ensure that they are culturally competent? Minga Guerrero, CHP’s Regional Medical Director and past president of the OBCE will use this two-hour session to explain how cultural competency is a vital component of any integrative healthcare provider’s ethical training and can encourage better provider/patient relationships.

Cultural Competency History - In 2015, the Oregon Legislature commissioned the Oregon Health Authority in overseeing the creation of Cultural Competency training for applicable healthcare providers in Oregon. While this training is not yet mandatory for providers, healthcare boards are encouraging their providers to take Cultural Competency training in 2016 where available.
